This publication examines a family portrait produced by the photography studio of K. Mulman in Odessa during the late Russian Empire period.

At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, Odessa was one of the most important cultural and commercial centers of the Black Sea region. The city’s photographic studios documented thousands of lives through cabinet portraits, preserving the faces of merchants, workers, students, military personnel and ordinary families whose histories would later be shaped by revolution and war.

The studio of K. Mulman belonged to this rich photographic environment of imperial Odessa. Even a single surviving portrait card today serves as a valuable historical artifact, reflecting both the technical traditions of studio photography and the everyday visual culture of the era.
